Caught In The Middle

My two best friends are in an argument. What can I do to help?

God’s Response

Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement. And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women. Philippians 4:2-3

Euodia and Syntyche were two women in the church in Philippi who were having such a disagreement that even Paul, hundreds of miles away, had heard about it and mentioned it in his letter. Apparently their conflict was affecting the entire church. When friends get into fights, it can be painful to watch, and it usually ends up affecting many other people. You can help by praying that God will intervene. God may also want to use you to help them resolve their conflict. If so, listen to both friends with compassion. Never speak unkindly about one friend to the other, and gently help them see where they might need a change of attitude.

This Is Promising

I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. John 17:20-21
