Role Model
Role Model
Is it my responsibility to be a good role model?
God’s Response
In the course of time, Judah arranged for his firstborn son, Er, to marry a young woman named Tamar. But Er was a wicked man in the LORD’s sight. Genesis 38:6-7
Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
You yourself must be an example to them by doing good deeds of every kind. Titus 2:7
“Like father like son.” “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” These are phrases we smile at that also carry an enduring element of truth. We tend to be amazingly similar to our parents because they have been our models of how to think and act. Judah was one of the ringleaders in selling his brother into slavery; he shouldn’t have been surprised when his sons treated others cruelly. What you say and do will be copied by those closest to you, which gives you the potential for passing on great good or great evil. If you have had poor role models, determine to stop the cycle and to influence those around you to follow God with passion and purpose.
God’s Challenge
Mark out a straight path for your feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong. Hebrews 12:13
