How is it possible for me to do anything significant for God when I have so few resources?

God’s Response

Jesus soon saw a great crowd of people climbing the hill, looking for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” . . . Philip replied, “It would take a small fortune to feed them!” Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?” John 6:5, 7-9

Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and passed them out to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate until they were full. “Now gather the leftovers,” Jesus told his followers. John 6:11-12

In football, a wide receiver is sometimes asked to run a deep route simply to clear space for the primary receiver running a shorter route. Even though it takes very few resources for the first receiver to run straight down the field, his job is still necessary for the play to work. Don’t feel useless or insulted by the little tasks in life. If you avoid them, you may miss out on something big that God is doing.

To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who are unfaithful, even what little they have will be taken away. Matthew 25:29
