Opposition
Opposition
How should I respond to opposition?
God’s Response
I come to you for protection, O LORD my God. Save me from my persecutors—rescue me! Psalm 7:1
He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. Isaiah 53:7
Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate when people say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and he will bless you for it. 1 Peter 3:9
I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Matthew 5:44
At times, your best response to opposition is no response at all. By repaying evil for evil, you stoop to fighting on the opposition’s terms and you cut yourself off from God’s righteous power. Try to love and pray for those who oppose you. No matter how much opposition you experience, continue doing right, trust in God, and keep yourself tapped into God’s strong power and protection.
God’s Promise
If you are suffering according to God’s will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for he will never fail you. 1 Peter 4:19
