Speaking Up
Speaking Up
When is it appropriate to speak up for what is right?
God’s Response
When Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him publicly, speaking strongly against what he was doing, for it was very wrong. Galatians 2:11
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those who are perishing. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. Proverbs 31:8-9
There are situations in which it is appropriate for you to speak up. When you can, it is your duty to call people to act against injustices in the world, especially on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. You are also called to speak up when you know that a friend or family member is disobeying God or hurting others. In all you do, make it a priority to get the right message about God across to others who may not understand or know any better.
God’s Challenge
If a person is ashamed of me and my message . . . I, the Son of Man, will be ashamed of that person when I return in the glory of my Father with the holy angels. Mark 8:38
