Celebration
Celebration
Does God have a problem with celebrating?
God’s Response
Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of choice foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared.” Nehemiah 8:10
The master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” Matthew 25:23
Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with stringed instruments and flutes! Psalm 150:4
Ezra and Nehemiah were serious, godly leaders of the people, but when they completed the walls it was time to celebrate, for God had helped them to succeed. In thanksgiving and dedication, the people listened to God’s Word. This moment of joy and gladness was also a time for food and festivities—a holy party time—to remember, thank, praise, and honor God, and to dedicate themselves to him in a festive spirit with feasting and sharing. At Christmastime, birthdays, anniversaries, or any celebration, include these elements and you will be blessed beyond expectation.
God’s Promise
Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Protect them, so all who love your name may be filled with joy. Psalm 5:11
