How much does God direct the events of my life?

There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. . . . God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11

Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful. Romans 12:12

This question may best be answered toward the end of life, when you can look back and see how God has pieced together specific circumstances to form a master plan for you. You must be cautious about overreacting to certain events in your life until you have seen God’s entire plan for you. In the book of Ruth, we read about the troubles that came to Naomi. She thought that God had abandoned her, but God took those troubles and wove them into his grand plan for her, to the point that she became a direct ancestor of Jesus Christ! The events of your life may make little sense until you realize that God uses them to bring joy and purpose to those who love and obey him.

God’s Promise

These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. Habakkuk 2:3
