Welcome New Talent

So now we must choose a replacement for Judas. Acts 1:21

The senior pastor had been with the church for eight years. Weekly attendance had grown from 350 to 1,500. Things were humming along nicely—and then he took a position at another church.

Many in the congregation thought he was irreplaceable, but the new pastor was better suited to maintaining a healthy organization. The church’s needs had changed, so the talent pool also needed to change.

Vacancies are opportunities to make critical adjustments in your team’s core competencies.

Judas had played an important role in the ministry by handling the money. Until the time of his betrayal, he was a trusted player.

The disciples didn’t dwell on the past. They looked to the future and chose a replacement with the qualities needed to further their mission. Their needs had changed, so they looked for someone more suited to evangelism than financial management.

An opening on your team is a gift from God. He’s giving you the opportunity to make changes and get ready for the future.
