Take Your Time

You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them. Isaiah 25:1

An entrepreneur is a person who wakes up with a revolutionary idea and is disappointed when it hasn’t been implemented by lunchtime.

If that silly definition strikes close to home, you aren’t alone. Most of the visionary leaders I know suffer the same frustration.

They have a vision, they take off with it, and the rest of us scramble to catch up.

My friend Tim Blair calls it the rubber-band effect. A rubber band is only useful when tension is applied by stretching it. Tim says entrepreneurs are beneficial because they stretch the rest of us.

If you’re a real visionary, please don’t stop. However, you may want to do yourself a favor by taking a deep breath and considering that God, according to Isaiah, takes great lengths of time to accomplish things. He doesn’t need the time, but we do.

The secret is not to stretch the rubber band so far that it snaps.
