Don’t Necessarily Finish Things

I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the LORD’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.” Isaiah 49:4

You are leading an organization, and your assignment is to keep your eyes on the horizon.

If you stop to finish something, you divert attention from the future and run the risk of missing an unexpected curve in the road.

Leaders lead. They don’t necessarily finish things.

Isaiah was leading, but he couldn’t see any results. His response was to trust God for his reward, and you should do that too.

On a practical level, you might do some tasks that you can finish, such as washing dishes or mowing the lawn. You might ask your team for regular updates and celebrate with them when they finish something. You could volunteer for something outside of work where you are not the leader.

God has given you a unique set of skills. Opening doors may be one; closing doors may not be.
