Take Charge
Take Charge
Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the LORD! Judges 5:2
Israel was a disaster. They had been under the control of King Jabin of Hazor, who had ruthlessly oppressed them for twenty years. God raised the prophetess Deborah as a judge to lead them in a decisive defeat of Jabin and his army.
On the final day of battle, Deborah sang a song that began with this verse about Israel’s leaders taking charge.
There are two types of leaders—those who lead and those who don’t.
People are looking for someone to lead them. When Israel’s leaders took charge and actually started leading, the people gladly followed.
Being in a leadership position is only part of the equation. People are hungry for vision and direction. These often come from an unexpected source. God found Deborah sitting under a tree at the edge of town.
If no one is following, are you really leading?
Look around you. Are people in your organization waiting for someone to step up and take control?
