The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land. No manna appeared on the day they first ate from the crops of the land, and it was never seen again. Joshua 5:11-12
When was the last time you saw a phone booth on a city street? Where hotel lobbies once had rows of pay phones, there’s now an empty wall or an Internet kiosk. Kids no longer carry a spare dime to call home.
Does this mean that people have stopped talking to each other by telephone?
Hardly. People still communicate by telephone, but now the phones are wireless and hooked to a belt or a briefcase.
The Israelites had begun a new chapter in their history. They no longer needed the food that had mysteriously appeared each night in the wilderness. The manna had been replaced with something else.
The people were still hungry; they just got their food from a different source.
