Let Enough Be Enough
Let Enough Be Enough
Finally Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen.” Genesis 13:8
Abram could have pulled rank and simply told Lot which section of land to take, but he exercised exemplary leadership skills by giving Lot first choice of any section he wanted.
Even leaders with the best of intentions fall easily into greediness traps that drive them to extend their influence beyond what they are able to control or maintain. Success in one area causes them to believe they should be successful in another, and another, and another.
This often results in serious damage to the foundational organization that brought them their initial success. Once the foundation begins to crumble, it isn’t long before everything comes tumbling down.
Abram knew that no matter which section of land Lot chose, there would still be plenty left for him. He valued his relationship with Lot more than material gain.
Perhaps you’ve been looking at other markets or opportunities for expansion. As a leader, it’s important for you to know when enough is enough.
