Pace Your Growth

Pace Your Growth

I will make all your enemies turn and run. . . . But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate. . . . I will drive them out a little at a time until your population has increased enough. Exodus 23:27-30

When the small advertising agency was started, there were four employees. They were very effective, and business began to fall from the sky. It was great.

After hiring a handful of support people and renting the necessary office gear for them, the staff was shocked when the founder announced that they had to start refusing new business.

“We have outgrown our cash flow, and if we want to be around for the long haul, we need to postpone some business until our infrastructure catches up with our reality.”

God had great plans for the Israelites, but he knew they had to be phased in over time.

It may fly in the face of conventional wisdom, but not all growth is good for your organization. Make sure you are ready to grow before you fertilize your ideas.
