Make Some Phone Calls

I have much more to say to you, but I don’t want to do it with paper and ink. For I hope to visit you soon and talk with you face to face. 2 John 1:12

If you want to reduce the massive number of e-mails you get, try responding to some of them with a phone call rather than an e-mail.

E-mail is generally a good tool for communicating with people who are not in the same room, but nothing beats the effectiveness of picking up the phone and having a conversation in real time.

The apostles used letters and messengers to communicate, but they longed to hear the voices of their friends and followers.

Try this experiment:

For the next seven days, respond to as many e-mails as possible with a phone call.

Notice the reactions you get when people answer the phone. My guess is that the majority of them will be pleasantly surprised you took the time to dial their number.

When it comes to effective communication, nothing beats the sound of a human voice.

Pick up the phone.
