Inform Your Allies
Saul sent this warning to the Kenites: “Move away from where the Amalekites live, or you will die with them. For you showed kindness to all the people of Israel when they came up from Egypt.” 1 Samuel 15:6
God instructed Saul to wipe out the Amalekite people for something they had done hundreds of years earlier. The Kenites were living nearby, and Saul alerted them to the pending attack so they could move to safety.
Your organization doesn’t operate in a vacuum. Decisions you make will affect others, just as the decisions they make have an impact on you.
Before you go public with a major change that has wide-ranging implications, call your allies and give them a heads-up. Let them hear it from you instead of from the news media or the grapevine.
As John Donne, the seventeenth-century poet and clergyman, wrote, “No man is an island.” Everyone relies on others.
Do you have something in the works that others should know about before it happens? Set aside time to call them today.
Make it a practice to keep people in the loop.
