Keep On Doing The Right Thing
Keep On Doing the Right Thing
Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. Galatians 6:9
The village of Lombard, Illinois, owns a historic theater and shopping area worth millions of dollars because one organization did “what is good.” The story was reported by Charisma News Service:
Big Idea Productions is giving a 2.5-acre site to the community after backing out of plans to develop it. President Bob Patin says, “It was purely an effort to live out in our behavior the values that we espouse in our work. . . . Do the right thing, no matter what.
“Our [changing plans] derailed downtown development and hurt the town’s pride,” said Patin. “Typically in business, if you make a mistake you cut your losses and move forward. Here, we looked at who we are and what we stand for and said the proof had to come out of our own wallet.”
Paul cautions against selfishness that flourishes in a traditional environment of rigid adherence to policy.
You can do things the right way, or you can do the right thing. The choice you make depends on how you define and measure success.
