Keep Being Who You Are

Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of . . . everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. Genesis 39:22-23

Job security isn’t what it used to be. The typical college graduate just entering the workforce will have an estimated seven to ten different jobs over his or her career. Some of the job changes will be voluntary, but many will be the result of something outside their control.

Unless you are in a unique situation, you will probably be in transition at least once between now and the time you stop working.

Involuntary job separation is tough. One way to maintain your dignity is to keep doing what made you successful in the first place. If you’re an enthusiastic optimist, keep it up. If you’re a bottom-line realist, and it works for you, stay the course. Don’t let circumstances dictate who you are.

Joseph was tossed in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Within a short time, he was back doing what he had done all along.
