Ignore People When Necessary

The Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. Genesis 26:14-15

No matter how much you give back to the community, or how generous you are to your staff, or how hard you work to keep quality up and prices low, you are going to be criticized for your success.

The inevitability of jealous detractors doesn’t excuse you from the need to be generous, but the reality of their perpetual existence should relieve you of the need to waste time trying to earn their approval.

It isn’t about your success at all. It’s about their lack of it.

Nothing you do to mitigate their jealousy will make a difference. If you try, you will be less successful because they will distract you from your mission—and they’ll still be miserable.

Isaac was blessed with tremendous success. When Abimelech asked Isaac to leave, he didn’t stay to argue his case. He just moved on.

Sometimes you need to ignore people. They will pose no real threat if you just leave them alone.
