Decide Whether To Fight Or Switch

Abandoning that one, Isaac moved on and dug another well. This time there was no dispute over it. Genesis 26:22

I don’t know how wells were dug in those days, but I imagine it was a difficult task. Four times in a row, Isaac and his servants dug a well only to have it filled in or seized by local people.

It seems to me that Isaac would have been justified in resisting the appropriation of his hard work, but for some reason he decided each time to move on and dig another well.

As a leader, you need to know which battles to fight and which to ignore. Your decision will be influenced by your long-range plans. Your vision of the future will dictate whether you choose to fight or switch.

Isaac had set his sights on a place God had promised Abraham, and none of the abandoned wells were in this Promised Land. He was okay with giving them up and moving closer to his primary objective.
