Consider Strategic Partnerships

The men of Judah said to their relatives from the tribe of Simeon, “Join with us to fight against the Canaanites living in the territory allotted to us.” Judges 1:3

The objective in basketball is to score more points than the other team. The scoreboard logs how well each team did during the allotted time, but players are also recognized for the number of times they assist another player to score points.

Every player has individual objectives, such as the desire to be on a Wheaties box, but the team works together to achieve common goals. They form a strategic alliance.

The tribes of Judah and Simeon had similar goals. They also wanted to preserve their distinctiveness, so they formed an alliance. Each tribe contributed its own competencies and resources.

Strategic alliances tend to succeed when both sides clearly understand the other’s reasons for participating, so be candid about your goals from the outset.

Perhaps you have a big project looming that would benefit from a partnership with someone who shares a similar goal. You may not need to fight the battle alone.
