“O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young.’ . . . Don’t be afraid . . . for I will be with you.” Jeremiah 1:6-8

The boss was sending Eric, the youngest member of their executive team, on a difficult assignment. To ensure that folks in the field would take him seriously, the boss took time to call each of the managers Eric would be visiting. She encouraged them to treat the new guy with respect.

At each stop along the way, Eric was met with enthusiasm and support because his boss was behind him.

It’s tough for young leaders to earn respect from the old guard, so do what you can to smooth the path for them. Let others know the newbies have your support. And for goodness’ sake, don’t send them on a trip that no one else wants to make!

God’s task for Jeremiah was extremely important. Jeremiah could step out with confidence because he knew that God was with him.
