Admit Your Mistakes

I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. Isaiah 57:15

Quick—stop for a second and name the last time a public figure stepped up to the podium and admitted doing something wrong or making a mistake.

The clock is ticking—buzzzz—time’s up.

I’ll bet you couldn’t think of one. If you did, you probably can’t think of another.

Now start a list of people who owe the world an apology. Set a time limit, or you’ll be at it all day.

“I’m sorry. I made a mistake.”

It goes against our nature to admit that we’ve messed up, but God promises to restore and revive those who do.

It makes good sense. Failing to admit a mistake stalls the recovery process. If it has gone too far, people already have a hunch you’re the culprit. They’re just waiting for you to fess up so they can move on.
