What Jesus Left Behind

Read Proverbs 8

I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans.

Proverbs 8:27

Imagine the top CEO of the nation leaving his job to become a janitor. Who would intentionally throw away status, power, and money to pick up a job at the bottom of the ranks? Proverbs 8:27 is a reminder that Jesus did precisely that.

It is easy to forget that Jesus demoted himself to become a mere man. How do we reconcile the image of the all-powerful God with the face of the man, Jesus? All existence was at his design as he directed and molded each detail of the earth. Why did Jesus fit so well in the world? He created it his size.

Even before the world’s creation, the fullness of God dwelled in Jesus. God answers our question for us, however, pointing out that his ways and thoughts are beyond our understanding. How can we not be amazed, honored, and humbled by his choice to sacrifice his life for ours?

Wisdom is timeless.

Today, Lord, I call you mighty and powerful, and I thank you that you loved me enough to leave your throne in heaven to save my soul.
