A Wise Choice
A Wise Choice
Read Proverbs 9
If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.
Proverbs 9:12
The essence of Proverbs is a choice: Will we pursue wisdom or not? No one can make this decision for us. The kind of person we decide to be touches every aspect of our lives. Proverbs 9:12 is a reminder that there are consequences to the choice we make.
Ideally, we would all scoop up wisdom as our prize and live happily ever after—but we don’t. In fact, we often choose to grumble over God’s commands. We don’t want to hear advice from anyone. Even though God is clear that wisdom leads to a fulfilling life, we sometimes choose the opposite.
A tendency to make good decisions or bad decisions soon becomes a habit. Despite our poor decisions, however, God is persistent to warn us of the consequences. He lets us be responsible for our decisions. He is always hoping that, in the end, Christians will choose what’s right.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Wisdom is a choice and a life.
Today, Lord, I want to do what is wise in your eyes. Thank you for your guidance.
