From Heaven’s Eye
From Heaven’s Eye
Read Proverbs 7
Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:19-21
From your perch in heaven someday, the life you spent on earth will look very different. All the materialistic details of your life will remain here. The world will forget you in a moment or two, but the Lord will continue to love you for eternity.
In this passage, Jesus is instructing Christians where they should set their priorities. Jesus is not saying, “Live with the bare minimum. Sell your clothes, cars, home, and quit your job.” Instead, he is saying, “Don’t love your things; love your God.” Where you set your eyes and direct your feet, there your heart will follow.
The moment you stand before God, you won’t care how many cars you owned or that your house was the biggest on the block. Standing before Jesus, you won’t be grieving over that stock market slump or that deal you lost. If you have treasured Jesus Christ during your life, then your heart will be fulfilled in that moment.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Treasure what matters.
Today, Lord, help me to keep in mind the eternal ramifications of what I accomplish.
