Promoting Peace

Read Proverbs 10

People who wink at wrong cause trouble, but a bold reproof promotes peace.

Proverbs 10:10

The world’s way of promoting peace differs remarkably from God’s way. We would rather let everyone do as they please––just “wink” and mind our own business when we see others sin. This sort of practice, however, does not work. As humans, our life is unavoidably tied to and affected by those around us.

On the other hand, God’s way of promoting peace begins when we hold his truth as of utmost importance. This means we have the responsibility to bring back, gently but sternly, those who stray from the truth.

The process of confronting others might be uncomfortable, but peace does not appear when all our problems disappear. We will always have struggles! Peace comes when problems and sin within relationships are dealt with correctly and humbly.

Lord, help me to stand boldly when others seek to compromise your truth.
