Off And Running
Off And Running
Read Proverbs 4
When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.
Proverbs 4:12
The picture of running through life seems to be an especially apt one for our culture. We run from this activity to that job to this responsibility to that commitment. Lots of that running, however, doesn’t seem to be so wise. We may do way too much running, only to find ourselves stumbling, unable to fulfill our commitments as well as we would like because we’re over-committed, tired, or burned out.
There’s no doubt that we will continue to “run” at a certain pace, for life is very busy for most people. To be able to run through life guided by wisdom means knowing your own best pace and allowing for only the amount of activity that can be done realistically and well. Wisdom means seeking God’s guidance so we know when to say yes and when to say no. Then we will do all things well, and we won’t “stumble” along the way.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Wisdom avoids hurts and hurdles.
Lord, as I run through my activities, teach me how to be guided by wisdom. Show me when to say yes and when to say no.
