Read Proverbs 11

Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers.

Proverbs 11:14

Without God’s direction in our lives, we would be hopelessly lost in sin. Indeed, whenever we try to strike out on our own path and go in a direction different from God’s, we invariably fail. The same is true at all levels—in the family, in a church, at a business, and in government. It is impossible to have wise leadership without the presence of God, for true wisdom comes from God alone.

Furthermore, every leader needs good advisers. From the president of the country down to the family unit, we all rely on a close-knit circle of friends and counselors for advice and guidance. Sometimes, when we are far from God, it is only the wise counsel of a spouse or close friend that can bring us back. Thank God for the good advisers in your life.

A WORD FOR TODAY

Wise leadership isn’t optional.

Today, Lord, remind me that true leadership is based on you and you alone, that your wisdom is the source of life. Please use the people in my life to guide and mold me and keep me on the path that you have set for me.
