A Lasting Peace

Read Proverbs 14

Those who fear the LORD are secure; he will be a refuge for their children.

Proverbs 14:26

There are a great many causes of concern in our lives, covering a broad range of importance. Will our income cover our expenses? Will there be a nuclear war? Are my children safe? Will I get cancer? Is there anything I’m missing that I should be worried about?

In the midst of these concerns, there exists a God who has always been and always will be. He created us; he loves us; and he knows our past, present, and future. How great our confidence can be when we bask in the glow of his sovereignty and goodness. We can turn to God—not only in the midst of our hardship but also in the midst of our prosperity. We can find our identity and value in him. He will always be a refuge—to us and to our children.

A WORD FOR TODAY

Trusting God offers children an inheritance.

Today, Lord, teach me to place my whole trust in you. I want you to be my eternal, unshakable refuge.
