A Healthy Indecision

A Healthy Indecision

Read Proverbs 13

Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness.

Proverbs 13:16

Oh, those pitiful fools! First, they don’t fear God, saying that he doesn’t even exist. Then, they make rash decisions and brag about their foolishness. How we pity them—that is, until we realize that sometimes those characteristics strike a little too close to home.

We all have moments of foolishness. We can be thankful that God hasn’t given up on us. He may discipline or reprove us, yet as the apostle Paul said, “I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6). Let us be prudent in our decision making, choosing to rely on God and his wisdom rather than bragging about our foolishness.

A WORD FOR TODAY

Think, act, and then think some more.

Today, Lord, help me to lean on you. Keep me from rash decisions. Teach my heart to be patient.
