A Worthy Foundation

A Worthy Foundation

Read Proverbs 12

Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.

Proverbs 12:19

When a carpenter begins to build a house, his primary concern is a proper foundation. He knows that no matter how beautiful or well built the rest of the structure is, if the foundation isn’t solid, the whole building will go awry. It may take time, but gravity will eventually prove whether or not a foundation is plumb and true.

So it is in our lives. If we build our values and priorities on the foundational truth of the one who claimed to be truth—Jesus (John 14:6)—then time will bear witness to the rightness of our choice. However, if our foundations aren’t true, then all our flimsy facades will be exposed for the shams that they are. We must pursue God’s truth as if our lives depended on it. They do!

A WORD FOR TODAY

Truth keeps a life-house standing.

Today, Lord, lead me into your eternal truth. Show me where I have built on wrong foundations, and help me to build on the truth.
