Trusting God To Rescue

My heart is confident in you, O God;

no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!

Wake up, lyre and harp!

I will wake the dawn with my song.

I will thank you, LORD, among all the people.

I will sing your praises among the nations.

For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens.

Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.

May your glory shine over all the earth.

Psalm 108:1-5

The difference between winning and losing teams is often the level of confidence teammates have in each other. In this prayer David placed his confidence securely in God. He knew that he couldn’t save himself. Only God could rescue him. David reminded himself that God’s love was higher than the heavens, his glory was evident all over the earth. He exclaimed, “No wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!” It is easy for us to forget the extent of God’s power and love. We dwell on the problems we are going through, instead of the God who can give us victory.

In prayer today, recount the ways God has saved his people in the past. Use David’s words to praise him for his power and love.
