An Appeal For Justice

An Appeal for Justice

O LORD, rescue me from evil people.

Protect me from those who are violent,

those who plot evil in their hearts

and stir up trouble all day long. . . .

Don’t let liars prosper here in our land.

Cause great disasters to fall on the violent.

But I know the LORD will help those they persecute;

he will give justice to the poor.

Surely righteous people are praising your name;

the godly will live in your presence.

Psalm 140:1-2, 11-13

Almost daily we hear news reports of cruelty and injustice suffered by innocent people. Sadly, the stories are often of little children who are abandoned or abused by adults who seemingly have no conscience or remorse. When we hear of such inhuman and unspeakable acts, most of us become angry. We may even ask, “Oh, God, where is justice?” David was concerned about the injustice suffered by the poor, the innocent, and the defenseless. He asked the Lord to help those who are persecuted, to give justice to the poor, and to destroy those who were committing these violent acts.

Take some time to pray for those suffering in the world today. Ask God to bring justice to that situation.

  • Dear God, give justice to the poor. Rescue the innocent from evil people . . .
