Thanksgiving For God’s Goodness

Thanksgiving for God’s Goodness

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!

His faithful love endures forever.

Cry out, “Save us, O God of our salvation!

Gather and rescue us from among the nations,

so we can thank your holy name

and rejoice and praise you.”

Praise the LORD, the God of Israel,

who lives from everlasting to everlasting!

And all the people shouted “Amen!” and praised the LORD.

1 Chronicles 16:34-36

King David had just brought the Ark of God into the city of Jerusalem. The whole community had gathered to mark this milestone in Israel’s history. God had established them in their land and defeated their enemies. David gave this prayer of praise to the priests leading the worship. David prayed, “Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name.” Thankfulness should flow from our hearts as we consider the good things God has done for us, such as establishing us and graciously providing us with everything we need.

Recount the ways God has been good to you and your family. Thank and praise him for his goodness.

  • Dear Lord, I give thanks to you, for you are good! Your faithful love endures forever . . .
