Rejoicing Over God’s Victories
Rejoicing over God’s Victories
Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD:
“I will sing to the LORD,
for he has triumphed gloriously;
he has hurled both horse and rider
into the sea.
The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has given me victory.
This is my God, and I will praise him—
my father’s God, and I will exalt him!”
Exodus 15:1-2
Moses had just seen the Lord part the Red Sea, protect the Israelites as they passed through on dry ground, and then drown Pharaoh’s well-armed soldiers as the Red Sea’s waters crashed down upon them. Moses had seen God demonstrate his power in a marvelous way, and he couldn’t stand silent. He simply had to announce God’s victory: “The Lord is my strength and my song,” he sang. “He has given me victory.”
What victories has God given you? In what ways have you seen God triumph over his enemies? Sometimes we forget that God is fighting with us. We find ourselves fighting the battle in our own strength. Let’s remember who really gives us victory. Praise the Lord as Moses did, and trust him to give you victory.
- Dear Lord, you are my strength and my song. You have given me victory. I praise you . . .
