David’s Search For God’s Will

David asked the LORD, “Should I move back to one of the towns of Judah?”

2 Samuel 2:1

When facing a major decision, we are often quick to consult friends or look for signs in the midst of our circumstances, but how many of us first go to God in prayer? In today’s prayer, David wanted to know where to begin his reign as king. Rather than taking a survey and talking to others about where to go, David sought the Lord and his will. And the Lord was quick to reply. Although God can, and does, reveal his will through circumstances and the advice of others, he delights to answer our prayers and speak through his Word.

Today, thank God for leading you thus far. Then ask him to show you his will for you, and listen for his answer.
