Praising The God Who Knows Us
Praising the God Who Knows Us
O LORD, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD.
Psalm 139:1-4
One of the greatest desires of the human heart is intimacy: knowing and being known. Our relationship with God is unique in that he alone knows us completely. It is an act of worship and submission to admit that God knows everything about us. Regardless of where we may find ourselves, God knows our every thought and can direct us where to go and give us rest. Incomprehensible as it may be to our finite minds, God’s knowledge is not limited to the past and the present. To use David’s words, “You know what I am going to say even before I say it.” That is how intimately God knows and loves you.
In prayer today, praise the one who knows you and loves you so completely.
- O Lord, I praise you that you know everything about me . . .
