Praise To The God Who Can Save Us

We worship at your throne—

eternal, high, and glorious!

O LORD, the hope of Israel,

all who turn away from you will be disgraced.

They will be buried in the dust of the earth,

for they have abandoned the LORD, the fountain of living water.

O LORD, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;

if you save me, I will be truly saved.

My praises are for you alone!

Jeremiah 17:12-14

Jeremiah had the daunting task of warning God’s rebellious people that there would be consequences to their sinful ways. After announcing God’s judgment to the people, Jeremiah turned to God, his only hope. Turning from all the wickedness around him, he meditated on God’s throne—“eternal, high, and glorious!” He reiterated the truths he had been proclaiming—that those who turn from the Lord would one day be disgraced and face death for refusing God’s “fountain of living water.” Jeremiah, in contrast, declared his dependence on God. Having reminded himself of these eternal truths, Jeremiah praised God.

We, too, should remember who has saved and healed us. Again and again, we need to remind ourselves in prayer of how much God has done for us.
