Praise For The Eternal King
Praise for the Eternal King
The LORD is king! He is robed in majesty.
Indeed, the LORD is robed in majesty and armed with strength.
The world stands firm
and cannot be shaken.
Your throne, O LORD, has stood from time immemorial.
You yourself are from the everlasting past.
Psalm 93:1-2
According to Jewish tradition, this psalm hints at the arrival of a Messiah, who will save God’s people. Its opening lines describe the incomparable royalty of this King who would come. Christians know that this eternal King is Jesus. He is from everlasting past, and his throne is from time immemorial. No wonder this King’s majestic robe inspires such praise from the psalmist.
Our image of God can directly affect the nature of our prayers. As you pray throughout this day, let this psalm help you picture Jesus as your King, “robed in majesty” and “armed with strength.” Let your imagination ignite your praises for the King.
- Dear Lord, I praise you, who are robed in majesty and armed with strength . . .
