Praising God And His Ways
Praising God and His Ways
I will rejoice in the LORD.
I will be glad because he rescues me.
With every bone in my body I will praise him:
“LORD, who can compare with you?
Who else rescues the helpless from the strong?
Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?” . . .
Let them continually say, “Great is the LORD,
who delights in blessing his servant with peace!”
Then I will proclaim your justice,
and I will praise you all day long.
Psalm 35:9-10, 27-28
Swoosh! Seconds before the clock runs out, the star player nails the game-winning shot. Instinctively, the crowd stands and cheers the strength and tenacity of their hero. In this psalm, we find David praising God for rescuing him from his enemies. “Who can compare with you?” David asked. “Who else protects the helpless and poor?” A star athlete’s accomplishments pale in comparison to God’s mighty acts in this world, and one day everyone will bow before the Lord and acknowledge his power and righteousness. On that day, all honor and glory will be his. But as we wait for that day, we must help others recognize God’s power and encourage them to worship him.
Let us join David in praising God for the way he has rescued us.
- O Lord, no one compares with you in power and compassion . . .
