Meditating On God’s Splendor

Meditating on God’s Splendor

Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;

let them proclaim your power.

I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor

and your wonderful miracles.

Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;

I will proclaim your greatness.

Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;

they will sing with joy about your righteousness.

Psalm 145:4-7

In just these few verses of prayerful meditation, David mentioned many things about God that make him worthy of our praise and worship: his majesty, his glorious splendor, his wonderful miracles, his greatness, his goodness, and his righteousness. He also praised God for his goodness, unfailing love, mercy, and compassion. No wonder David’s prayer was full of praise. No wonder he encouraged each generation to tell others of God’s mighty acts. No wonder he foresaw the day when God’s awe-inspiring deeds would be on every tongue.

Take a few moments to meditate on God’s splendor, and let David’s prayer of praise lead you in praise to the Almighty. Then tell someone else this week about what God has done for you.

  • Dear God, you are surrounded by majestic splendor. Help me to tell others of your mighty acts . . .
