Looking To God For Our Needs
Looking to God for Our Needs
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
You rule throughout all generations.
The LORD always keeps his promises;
he is gracious in all he does.
The LORD helps the fallen
and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
The eyes of all look to you in hope;
you give them their food as they need it.
When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
Psalm 145:13-16
Life presents us with many competing demands—children asking for attention, bosses asking for greater productivity, and spouses asking for help with chores at home. While we are trying to attend to all these responsibilities, we may feel as if we need more and more as well. We may even begin to wonder if God himself is capable of providing for all our needs. But God, through his actions in the past, has demonstrated again and again that he can provide for our needs. He has promised to help us with our heavy burdens and even to help us when we stumble and fall. What a comfort to know that the Lord will provide for us!
Jesus told us not to worry, for God will provide for our needs (Matthew 6:31-33). In prayer today, commit your worries to him and trust him to provide for you.
- Dear God, I look to you for help. Open your hand and satisfy my needs . . .
