Have Mercy On Us

After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Matthew 9:27-29

“Have mercy on us.” Though these two blind men couldn’t see their surroundings, they could see that Jesus could help them, so they asked for one thing—his mercy. By calling Jesus the “Son of David,” they showed that they believed Jesus was the Messiah. And these men didn’t just cry out as Jesus passed by, giving up when he had passed them. They followed him right into the house where he was staying. It seems they cared more about receiving mercy from Jesus than about what others might have thought about them or about social protocol. They knew he alone was the answer to their needs.

May our own prayers be full of the faith and fervency of those two blind men, who asked for and received mercy from God.
