Praise From Children
Praise from Children
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
You have taught children and infants
to tell of your strength,
silencing your enemies
and all who oppose you.
Psalm 8:1-2
Were we to try to measure his glory, it would be greater than all the universe combined. Yet God enables even children to talk about his strength. What an amazing thought! Their simple prayers of praise often shame the prayers of adults. With their sincere faith in God, they are not distracted by all the “sophisticated” things that cause adults to struggle in their praise. Perhaps that is why Jesus demands that we become like little children in order to enter God’s kingdom (Matthew 18:3). And these praises of children can silence God’s enemies. How can anyone contradict a simple, yet miraculous prayer from a small child’s lips?
This week, find some time to listen to children praying. Let their simple prayers inspire you to express in prayer a childlike trust in God.
- Dear Lord, your majestic name fills the earth. Teach me to tell of your strength . . .
