Committing Our Cause To God
Committing Our Cause to God
O LORD of Heaven’s Armies,
you make righteous judgments,
and you examine the deepest thoughts and secrets.
Let me see your vengeance against them,
for I have committed my cause to you.
Jeremiah 11:20
Everyone has a cause today. We constantly receive mail and phone calls from organizations asking us to give money and time to support their cause. The prophet Jeremiah also had a cause: to deliver God’s message and call the people of Israel to repent and turn to God. Jeremiah’s enemies, however, were plotting to kill him. They wanted to silence him and his message. Jeremiah asked the Lord to intervene and take vengeance against those enemies, reminding God that he had committed his cause to him long ago.
If our cause honors God and if we have committed it to him, we can be sure he will honor and bless our efforts. Pray today that you’re supporting the right cause. Then ask for God’s blessing on it.
- Dear Lord, you know my deepest thoughts. I commit my cause to you . . .
