You are glorious and more majestic

than the everlasting mountains. . . .

Anyone who has spent time in the mountains develops an admiration for the forces of nature. We often feel small next to massive formations of earth and rock. God has given these impressive landscapes to us as clues to his power. This prayer asks, “Who can stand before you when your anger explodes?” If the whole earth remains silent and trembling before God’s awesome power, how much more should we pray with awe and holy respect? We wouldn’t want to be counted among his enemies when he renders judgment!
