Praising The Lord

Praise the LORD God, the God of Israel,

who alone does such wonderful things.

Praise his glorious name forever!

Let the whole earth be filled with his glory.

Amen and amen!

Psalm 72:18-19

The word praise is likely to enter our vocabulary when we want to give someone credit for something extraordinary that person has done. In this prayer, Solomon is asking his people to praise and glorify God for all the wonderful things God had done for them. This praise crowns a prayer in which Solomon asked God to bless his nation and his reign. How fitting it is that Solomon, who had received so much from the Lord, should express his indebtedness to God by glorifying God’s name.

As you ask God to bless you and your family, make sure you have adequately praised God for the wonderful ways in which he continually helps you.
