Bowing Before The Throne

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. They sang,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom

and thanksgiving and honor

and power and strength belong to our God

forever and ever! Amen.”

Revelation 7:11-12

This excerpt from the book of Revelation gives us a glimpse of God’s heavenly throne room. In John’s vision, he saw both resurrected believers and awesome heavenly creatures bowing facedown before God’s throne, praising the Lord for all that he had done. Such profound reverence for God contrasts with the great familiarity with which we often relate to God. We need to remember to whom we’re speaking when we pray. As you approach God in prayer, remember that he is the ruler of the universe. We dare not be too casual with the Holy One.

The angelic beings of Revelation expressed their humility and reverence for God by bowing facedown before him. In your prayer today, join these angelic beings in giving deepest respect to your Maker.
