An Appeal For Help

An Appeal for Help

God is my helper.

The Lord keeps me alive!

May the evil plans of my enemies be turned against them.

Do as you promised and put an end to them.

I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you;

I will praise your name, O LORD,

for it is good.

For you have rescued me from my troubles

and helped me to triumph over my enemies.

Psalm 54:4-7

David prayed these words when he was on the run. He was fleeing from the murderous grasp of King Saul because the people living in the Desert of Ziph had revealed David’s location. Because of their betrayal, Saul’s men were hot on David’s trail. It is a story fit for a movie—a desperate man fleeing for his life because of the betrayal of his so-called friends. Such a person doesn’t hold back when asking for help. He throws himself into the arms of his rescuers.

When you face a serious problem, feel entirely alone, or are betrayed by someone you trusted, calm your soul by appealing to God for help. When you face a crisis, turn to your Helper in prayer, asking him to rescue you.

  • Dear Lord, I need you to come to my rescue today . . .
